student led coaching for essays, applications, and decisions that make u bite ur nails

- by a cornell junior :)

why a college kid?

student pov

promise u, i am no professional counselor— but what i offer is different: cause... i am here! everyday, in the little inside jokes, where students go out to eat, the academic clubs that make a difference, etc etc... let me fill u in on the stuff that actually matters!!

1-to-1 care

i've been mentoring kids for college apps ever since before graduating hs, hopping on calls motivating them to start that first sentence, pushing them to be clearer when their ec descriptions are confusing, and also being there for the tears of when plans don't always go their way... i do this cause i acc love it. still not 100% sure why... but i do :)

my story

of mentorship

it started with angela...

2023

a fellow first gen girly from queens who's DREAMMM school was cornell. though deferred from cornell ED, angela PULLED THROUGH, with us drafting an incredible letter of continued interest, as well as continuing to improve on her supplements for other schools

...next thing you know, and angela gets accepted to cornell AND upenn!! she (sadly) said kiss my butt to cornell and is now pre-law at penn's a&s school :)

then it turned into workshops!

2024

i loved mentoring the ups downs of what was such a gruesome process for other kids from my background!! and so i joined ROKPA- a tibetan nonprofit helping w college apps- as a workshop coordinator.

2025

i met the most incredible people. from the talented high schoolers themselves— sometimes with a distinct self assurance and sometimes a more open minded perspective— to everyone helping out, it was clear there was a bigger mission at play.

i spoke in panels, led zoom writing workshops, hosted students in my cornell dorm, but most of all...

the mission.

unfortunately though, this reality cannot be afforded to everyone.

so here's the truth— i worked all of hs to get into a college, not bc of the name or prestige, but because i knew: the better the school, the better the financial aid.

therefore:

50% of every session funds a first-gen student.

your student gets clarity— another gets a chance.
